Swamp Sounds Florida - Studio Sessions Conversations

In this episode, we’re joined by Eric Mullins, a professional musician and Executive Director of Mullins Music, and Jimmy Michaud, vinyl archivist and community curator, to explore the story behind Swamp Sounds Florida, a Florida‑rooted vinyl collective built on education, trust, and cultural preservation.
Eric and Jimmy share how their mutual love of vinyl and community listening led to an organic partnership, beginning with Jimmy’s long‑running Vinyl Night and evolving into Swamp Sounds Florida. Together, they discuss their approach to curating, grading, and re‑homing vintage records with integrity, as well as their commitment to keeping music social, accessible, and grounded in human connection.
As Swamp Sounds Florida continues to grow through markets, workshops, and events, the duo shares their long‑term vision of creating a physical home for vinyl culture—one that honors “Old Florida” while supporting musicians, collectors, and future generations of listeners.
Jimmy Michaud is a 28‑year‑old Florida native from Pasco County, driven by deep emotional connections to music, nature, and all things deserving care and respect. A former musician with roots in biker culture and off‑the‑boat Sicilian heritage, his perspective blends grit, tradition, and creativity. He currently works full‑time in the marine world—on boats by day and immersed in the jackets, stories, and details of vinyl records whenever possible.
Eric Mullins is a musician, educator, and arts organizer whose career spans performance, composition, and community music education. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, he began piano at seven and saxophone at twelve, later touring with legendary blues singer Bobby “Blue” Bland. He is the co‑founder of Mullins Music, a nonprofit music school and recording studio in New Port Richey, Florida, and has released original children’s and jazz recordings. In 2026, Eric co‑founded Swamp Sounds Florida with Jimmy Michaud.
