
Jazz on Arts Axis Florida is celebrating National Piano Month with brand new solo piano performances.
National Piano Month is celebrated in September and was established in 1991 by the National Piano Foundation. It's a time to honor piano makers, pianists, and piano music lovers.

Julián Pernett Castilla’s pronounced natural talents in music, specifically in Afro-Latin percussion instruments are the result of his valuable cultural heritage from the Colombian Caribbean Coast. These abilities have always provided him with an abundance of musical gifts to share with the world. He is a passionate instrumentalist, concert pianist, and educator. Trained in the Western European musical tradition and the discipline of Improvisation in the Jazz style, Julián possesses a rich skillset that has opened a door to freely explore musical thoughts. With all sonic options at hand, including beyond the realms of piano performance, he makes each creation a truly personal expression through music.

Cynthia Jordan began her career in music as a songwriter when in 1983 her song, Jose Cuervo became the #1 country song of the year in Billboard Magazine. She calls herself a storyteller because over the years she has written hundreds of songs and instrumentals, 3 historical novels, 2 non-fiction books, 4 children’s books, 3 musicals, piano tutorials and she does keynote speaking and workshops.

David A. Miller was born in 1967. He studied music sporadically throughout his life, taking him from the Arizona State music program, London University, Mesa Community College Jazz Program, and to NYU. He wrote and conducted his first symphony in 1995 which was read by the Telluride Orchestra. David moved to China in 1996 and performed weekly in Beijing. He won silver prize for foreigners singing in Chinese in 1997. After living in Asia for nearly five years, he attended Chinese Medical school in New York City and drastically switched careers. Now residing in Sarasota, he is performing stand up comedy, already appearing twice at McCurdy's Comedy Club and will be performing original piano works when he returns to Beijing.

About Dan Bremer: A freelance musician in NYC for 40 years. Plays bassoon, clarinet, sax and piano. Played venues from the Staten Island Ferry to Lincoln Center and everything in between. Taught at Wagner College and Staten Island Community College. As a woodwind player performed with the Staten Island Chamber Music Players, the Staten Island Symphony, 7th Army Band, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. As a legit pianist, he worked as an accompanist for soloists, choirs, community theater, musical director for Staten Island Children's Theater. As a jazz pianist, he played clubs, hotels and restaurants, including Birdland, the 21 Club, the Riverside Cafe.

Born and raised in Leawood, Kansas, Angelus Matthew C. Roxas began playing piano at the age of three, and after a couple of years, he studied under Ms. Ying-Yu Emily Yeh. He began competing at a young age, and his passion and determination led him to perform four times at Carnegie Hall in New York, an invitation to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and a performance at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Teatro Studio, in Rome, Italy. He obtained a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance Degree in 2022 at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory where he studied under Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz. Matthew is currently studying under Dr. Svetozar Ivanov as he pursues a Master of Music in Piano Performance Degree at the University of South Florida with an accompanying assistantship. Matthew teaches as a piano instructor at the USF Community Music Project.
